Finding talent that shares your musical sensibilities can be a difficult task. To aid their search Leicester-based songwriters Soft Bodies required a website that would allow them to display information about themselves and make MP3s available.
The band wanted a dirty, grungy look incorporating a medical/x-ray theme. This naturally led to the use of white and dark blues with lots of scratchy lines and detail. A vivid purple was used as contrast for the links and navigational cues.
Music is a highly divisive subject and the band wanted to eliminate as many trivial reasons as possible for people to lose interest. To that end, rather than forcing people to download MP3s, find them on their hard drives, listen to them, delete them in disgust and not bother with any of the others, a streaming MP3 player was created.
Authored in Flash, the MP3 player has a number of sophisticated features that you would normally find in stand-alone applications. It allows people to quickly fast forward to the next song if they find themselves unenamored with the current one.
In addition there is also a private area of the site where band members can upload and download works in progress and make press information available.
