Probably the most complicated publicly accessible website in our portfolio, the Stanley Bostitch European website presented a number of challenges to be surmounted. The site was created in conjunction with Leicester-based design agency Fluid Thinking.
First and foremost of these challenges was the requirement for the site to be in seven different languages spread over a number of territories. As different domains were to be used for different territories, the site also had to be able to work with a varierty of different domains and subdomains.
The main part of the site is the comprehensive product catalogue consisting of over one-hundred and fifty tools and thousands of fasteners, as well as compressors to drive the tools. The catalogue was created to be flexible so that it can be viewed by the industry and application that tools are used in or by the type of tool. Details about accessories, fasteners and parts charts are all available from the individual product pages or via the tool and fastener finders. A broader site search is also provided. Tools specifications and features can also be compared by use of a comparator which tabulates the differences.
News updates are added via a customised install of the popular blogging tool Wordpress. To help customers find their nearest stockists, distributors and service centres, a custom interface for Google Maps was employed.
The Seven-Year Warranty page is available in an additional nine languages and allows customers to register their purchases online.
