Domain and Hosting Advice
Your choice of domain name and the company you choose to register and host with are two of the most important factors in launching a successful website.
Domain Name
Your domain name needs to be memorable which means it ideally needs to be short and punchy. If you want to get traffic from search engines you’ll probably want to choose a name which features your keywords. Before you decide on a name, get in touch with us and we’ll inform you of the options and give some recommendations.
Web Hosting
You need to be sure that your email service will be uninterrupted, that your site will be fast to load and will be available 99.9% of the time. You need to be sure that all the technology required is available to run your web applications such as databases and scripting languages and you also have to be sure your bandwidth allowance is large enough if you have a busy site.

When working on new sites we usually register the domains and hosting at the beginning. If you already have hosting we can work with your current account instead. Do let us know how much you’re being charged as we might be able to save you some money.
Registrations & Transfers
If you already have a domain or host you might need or want to transfer to a new one. If you don't have a domain and hosting, you’ll need both.
If we’re working on your site we’ll provide these services free of charge. Domain registrations and (especially) transfers can be time consuming processes so if you’re just after registration or transfer services we’ll charge a small fee. Don’t worry - it won’t cost the Earth.
Recommended Hosts
This site is hosted with an American company called Lunarpages. We’ve experienced (and in some cases endured!) many hosting companies and Lunarpages are the best we’ve discovered at their price level. Click the banner below to visit their website for more details.

No affiliate link this time, just excellent service and value. Clook’s servers are UK-based which makes them ideal for British and European companies as they are very fast. Clook are rare in the world of hosting in that you really have to go out of your way to find a bad review of their services, and even then it’s usually a case of “two sides to every story”.
